Biography: María Firsova

Between Russian Technique and Mediterranean Light

Born in Yekaterinburg, Russia, in 1979 and based in Málaga since 2002, María Firsova is an exceptionally well-trained artist whose work pulsates between the technical heritage of her native country and the vibrant light of the Costa del Sol.

Her passion for painting awakened at the age of eight in her hometown. Since then, she has dedicated her life to the study of art, acquiring a rigorous foundation at the Yekaterinburg Art Academy. After arriving in Spain, she decided to expand her visual language at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Málaga (UMA) and refine her skills in workshops led by internationally renowned artists, achieving a unique synthesis of discipline and creative freedom.

Style and Philosophy

Specializing in landscape painting using oil and watercolor techniques, María defines her style as contemporary Impressionist. Her work focuses on plein air painting, where she captures the ever-changing essence of nature and everyday street scenes.

Her art is a harmonious interplay of light and color designed to evoke profound emotions. Through a subtle transmission of light, María invites the viewer to pause before the ephemeral beauty of the world, encouraging them to appreciate those brief moments of happiness that surround us.

Career and Commitment

Since 2016, she has developed her artistic production from her studio in Málaga. Her career is supported by her participation in national and international competitions and exhibitions, where she has received several painting awards.

Committed to promoting art, María combines her creative work with:

Teaching: Professor at FAMER (Friends of the Russian Museum of Málaga Foundation).

Artistic Leadership: Active member of the Andalusian Watercolorists Association, where she serves on the board of directors for the Málaga branch.
